April 16th, 2009—Note from Leslie: I invite you to join me on my 60th birthday
Thank you to all of you who have contacted me, using numerous tools of communication to ask about my health. I finally have help from medical scientists and some answers as to why I have had bouts of such severe illness over three decades: I've tested positive for three tick-borne diseases—Lyme, Babesiosis and Bartonella. My mobility is often impaired. Light can be as painful as shards of glass. It's difficult for me to read or write in the English language. The diseases devour my calories and my memories.
Today I'm using photography in every area of my life for political and inter-personal articulation. I will be bringing some of my photos to my 60th birthday party on Sept. 5, 2009—Labor Day weekend in the U.S.—here in Syracuse. You are invited. This will be the first time I've tried to be part of a public event since October 2007. But whether you are living in the United States or in countries around the world, I invite you to join me on this website on September 5.
